Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove on Saturday claimed that the law and order situation in Balochistan has improved thanks to the efforts of the Balochistan Levies and other forces.

“Levies force is now being upgraded along modern lines as it will safeguard China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route and other socio-economic projects,” said Langove.

The home minister was addressing a passing out parade ceremony of the Levies personnel in Khuzdar. At least 391 Levies personnel – including four Quick Reaction Force (QRF) jawans belonging to Bolan, Panjgur and Awaran districts – completed their training course.

A large number of political and tribal leaders, including Qalat Division Commissioner Hafiz Tahir, Levies Force Director General Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Qambrani, Khuzdar Assistant Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Abdul Quddus Achakzai and others officials were present at the ceremony.

In his address, Langove said that due to the sacrifices of the Levies people of Balochistan are living in peace. “The sacrifices made by the Levies officials are unforgettable. Their problems will be resolved on priority. Levies is an experienced force and is well acquainted with the local areas,” he said.

He said the force is being modernised according to present requirements as 30,000 personnel are serving to maintain law and order throughout Balochistan, adding that he is proud of the professional skills of the young men who have been trained.

“It seems that the training of the Levies force’s personnel is equally as good as any other force.”

Qalat Commissioner Hafiz Tahir said the people of Jhalawan are very supportive of all the forces.

“The force has acquired considerable expertise in counter-terrorism and search operations. It can serve with police and the Frontier Corps (FC) anywhere,” he said.

Levies DG Qambrani said several wings of the Levies force have been created, including a CPEC wing, a QRF and an investigation wing.  “The CPEC wing will secure routes where as a socio-economic wing will protect the development schemes,” he said.
