100,000 trees to be Planted in Karachi

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has joined hands with several like-minded civil society organisations to do a spring plantation drive under which 100,000 tree saplings will be planted all across the city.

Sindh Information and Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah launched the spring plantation campaign at Bagh-e-Jinnah (old Polo Ground) of Karachi.

Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Local Government Minister said that such saplings would be planted under the latest campaign, which carried maximum benefits for the environment.

He said the Sindh government had also been implementing the project of urban forest along the Malir and Lyari rivers of Karachi.

He further said that a “Sarsabz Sindh” (Green Sindh) programme had been launched in accordance the vision of Chairman of Pakistan Peoples’ Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to promote greenery in the province.
